Fed Official: It’s Time For Rates To Go Up
As negotiations continue over the nation’s deficit and debt ceiling, Thomas Hoenig is calling on the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. Hoenig, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, says low rates have helped big banks but they’re not allowing average people to save. Hoenig talks to Stave Inskeep about his ideas, and what they could mean for the economy.

Testimony continues in KC rape trial
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Testimony continues in the Jackson County trial of a man charged with raping four Kansas City women in the 1980s. Bernard Jackson has pleaded innocent to several felonies, including rape, sodomy and robbery in the attacks in Kansas City’s Waldo neighborhood in 1983 and 1984.

Kansas City man sentenced for three bank robberies
A federal judge in Kansas today sentenced a Kansas City man to 14 years for three bank robberies, including one attempted in Kansas City, Kan. Kenneth Rayford, 59, was captured along with two other men in October 2009 when the FBI got a tip they would rob a bank at 1919 N. 78th in Kansas City, Kan.
