Plaza Lights – Kansas City Country Club Plaza (Photo One)
Kansas City

Every year, Kansas Citians flock to the Country Club Plaza to take in the beautiful Christmas lights that adorn the buildings. My husband took me on a romantic date to the Plaza on November 26, 2006, and here’s one of a handful of photos we took of the lights. Unfortunately, the photo doesn’t do the scenery justice.

Watson, Woodland make big shots at British Open
The two golfers with ties to Kansas City provided the shots that got the most buzz Friday during the second round of the British Open in Sandwich, England. Tom Watson made a hole in one on the sixth hole, and Gary Woodland drove the green — and past the hole — on the 404-yard fifth hole.

MLB Trade Rumors: Royals Wilson Betemit Makes Great Trade Chip
With the dearth of solid third base options around the major leagues, it’s no surprise that Wilson Betemit is a sought after trade option for some team making a post-season run. And it shouldn’t be surprising if Betemit receives at least a decent take this offseason when he’s finally a free agent. With that in mind, the timing is perfect for the Royals to make at least something out of what will …

Date: c. 1910

Object number: A.2009-40

Medium: paper; photo-emulsion

Description: A group of thirteen unidentified postal employees pose with mail sacks at a back entrance to the old Kansas City, Missouri, post office. Most of the clerks were part of the Post Office Department’s Railway Mail Service (RMS). Unlike Railway Post Office (RPO) clerks who sorted mail on board moving trains, these RMS clerks worked to move and process mail going onto or coming off of RPO cars. Early morning in Kansas City
Kansas City

Image by Jim Nix / Nomadic Pursuits
This shot was taken from my room in Kansas City, early in the morning. When I awoke, it was blue hour so I immediately stepped out on my balcony and set up for some shots. It is amazing how quickly the light and color can change – just 5 minutes before this shot it was full-on in blue hour. As you can see very plainly, it quickly turned somewhat gray. This was sort of a tightly focused shot on just a portion of the KC skyline. I like how the lights are casting a red hue on the streets. Next time I am there, I hope to get some free time to explore a little more of the city. In this shot I see several buildings and structures that I would like to explore a little closer. It’s really fun to me to walk around in a new city, because you never know what you might find. I enjoy architectural shots anyways, so a bunch of buildings – old and new – are great fun for me! Plus I think I see some candidates for some urban decay shots – add in a little HDR and I’ll be fired up!
